So what if…
…THIS ARTICLE, by Amy Glass, has me absolutely FUMING. To the point in which I think there is literally steaming coming out of my ears. In this one post she was able to offend women everywhere. This excerpt, in particular, made me want to give the author a real piece of my mind: "You will never have the time, energy, freedom or mobility to be exceptional if you have a husband and kids."
Holy. Hell.
So what if…
… I do not understand, no do I remotely like this new fingertip fashion trend.
How are those claws even functional? Ridiculous.
…And so what if not liking the trend labels me as old and uncool.
So what if…
…I'm day-dreaming of a trip we have coming up in a few months. Some people have a "thing" for shoes, or jewelry, or whatever. My "thing" is swimsuits. I can't help but buy at least one or two new suits each summer. Here are a few that I've got my eye on.
So what if…
…I know I'm not going to rock any of above suits like the models are. I don't have the belly, or the boobs, let's be real.
So what if…
…This came in the mail yesterday for Marcus. It's *supposed* to be a birthday present for him. But, I highly doubt I'll be able to wait until March to put him in it.
Cali Cub shirt can be found >here<. |
…Just because Marcus already owns one "cub" shirt doesn't mean I don't think he needs one of these.
Mama Bear, Man Cub, and Mama's Cub shirts can all be found >here<. |
…I might just want the Mama Bear sweatshirt for myself.
So what if…
…The Hospital Hill Half Marathon in KC isn't for another four months, but I'm already planning the post-race celebrations with a few blogging ladies that I'm dying to meet in real life.
So what if…
…I'm already anticipating switching out our running shoes for our party pants!
So what if…
…I'm secretly (now not so secretly) not dealing with the stress of our unknown living situation very well. Thankfully, a friend posted this on her Facebook wall and it was all I needed to read to let me know things will be ok.
Lastly, so what if…
…These pictures of Marcus have no rhyme or reason behind them, besides the fact that I happen to think my kid is cute. These photos have only ever been on a camera memory card, or filed away on the computer. And, contrary to what Amy Glass may think, Marcus makes me exceptional.
So there you have it.
Happy Hump Day!
I read that article too and it made me so mad and at the same time I felt so sorry for her. She tries to make herself feel better about the decisions she has made by trying to demean those who pick a different path. She has no idea how it is to be married and have children but she is so ready to convict us and say that we took the "easy" way. Well I can tell her that backpacking sure seems a lot easier than raising four kids and trying to do it the right way....and apparently she has never been married because I would never use the word "easy" for that either. She is too busy building up walls and fortifying them with hate to even notice what she is doing to others. It takes a very selfish person to publish those words.
ReplyDeleteOn a brighter side...you are going to rock those swimsuits!! :) I LOVE the mama bear!!
Laura @ Mice In The Kitchen
When is your race? I feel like it is the same weekend as Molly's dance recital. Is it June 7th? I refuse to read articles where people are being mean. You know my opinions on that.
ReplyDeleteThose fingernails are just creepy, and let's be honest... I hate swimsuits... Maybe when I lose 80 pounds, but until then. not a fan.
I read that article also (even though I'm not a mom) and instantly thought of you because I know you've posted on this topic before. I was like "ohhhh desiree is going to hateeee this." I hated it too.
ReplyDeleteOk so wow. That article is just ridiculous. What got me was the fact that having kids is "a super easy tasks". Um.... without even looking at her 'about me' section, I can tell she doesn't have kids. But it bugs me for two reasons, A) is she referring to actually getting pregnant because I'd love for her to tell my infertile friends that it's 'easy'. and B) does she mean parenting? If so, I need to punch her in the face. What IS easy, is living your life without kids and judging us who chose to raise children. And I agree, those nails are just gross.
ReplyDeleteTop right swimsuit!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I reaaallly want man cub + mama cub shirts for me and Mace.
Haven't read the article yet......might need a glass of wine with it from the sounds of it!
I. I came accross that Amy "Glass-hole" article and had to stop reading it. There is crazy all over this world. Quite frankly I feel sorry for her. 2. what is with everyone wearing the edward scissor hands nails? Is it not bad enough that they look like claws? then people are putting gems on them. WTH? Unless you are jenny from the block take those things off and go sit down somewhere! lol 3. That swimsuit is adorable!!! 4. um can we say counting down the days for HH? 4. I'm praying for you and the house situation. I always cling to Matthew 6:26-34 when I worry ... (echem) "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?..." Keep your chin up girl! (sorry for my mini post in your comment section #shouldhavesentanemail)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't understand those fingernails at all. They are nails. Not weapons. Of course, I'm so Plain Jane that I always keep my nails cut short and only paint them once every 10 years, so I guess I can't really talk.
ReplyDeleteWow, I hadn't seen that piece of trash (um, article?) yet and my blood is boiling, too. OMG. And those nails? Gag.
ReplyDelete1. I don't even know if I should read that article. I might start throwing things.
ReplyDelete2. I can't handle those nails. I think they're u-g-l-y.
3. I love those suits! I think since I didn't get a new one last year, one is definitely on the list for this summer.
4. I want the mama bear and mama's cub shirts so bad! And waiting for birthdays is overrated :)
5. I know it's hard not to stress about it, but things will end up working out! It's all in His timing, not our's :)
6. Marcus with a pot on his head...adorable!
My vote is for the bottom middle suit - love the bright colors! :)
ReplyDeleteIcky nails! let's get them, ha ha! :)
Andy and I were just talking last night about how much going thru a difficult situation totally sucks but it's amazing how you get on the other side of it and realize you survived and are doing just fine after it. Hang in there. Going thru it sucks but it won't kill you, won't take Marcus away from you and you will be in the sunshine on the other side of it at some point. You'll be ok! This part totally stinks but it's a short time in your life, there is so much to be happy about and this is just a small blip on your map. :)
Those nails...WOW. You could really hurt a person with those things! as for Ass-Glass...I haven't read what she wrote, but I've heard enough to know just to stay away. And, keep the cutie photos coming...people who talk smack about "too many photos" obviously don't have iphones or cute kids (KIDDING) ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Wednesday laughs!!
Make sure you tell me about this after party !! I will need a few drinks! :) Plus we will be kidless all weekend!
ReplyDeletemama bear and man cub for the win!
ReplyDeleteand yes. you will absolutely rock those swim suits!!!!
you are a hot mama.
Those nails are disgusting. Why in the world would you want that beyond a random halloween prop....
ReplyDeleteWow...that article was a load of BS. A married woman can still backpack across Asia. I have a friend who is married with children. Every two years she takes a trip with friends. China, Japan, Korea, Venezuela are some examples. It sounds like she is just pissed at the world or envious of friends.
ReplyDeleteAlso--M with his tractor!!! Iowa boy.
ReplyDeleteUmm... I just can't with those nails. Gross. Can you imagine how many things and people you would stab in the course of a day?
ReplyDeleteAnd that blog post. With your teaser, of course I had to go read it!
It pissed me off, but only so much. I just feel like lately people are going way over-the-top trying to upset large groups of people (this time it was moms) just to "go viral." I am sure she probably is a judgmental bitch like that in real life, but the whole tone of the article was designed to be offensive and mean-spirited.
It's ludicrous to claim to know how it is to be a SAHM when she doesn't even have kids. Yeah, before I had kids, I thought being a SAHM would be different than it really is. I truly didn't realize that it IS hard. I'm not even a single mom - I have a husband that helps me out with a few things around the house, but damn! It is hard! It's not the "work" itself, it's the other aspects: worrying about returning to the career you might have left behind, feeling like you are on the edge of losing your sanity sometimes, feeling isolated when you don't have other adults to carry on a normal conversation with. Not to mention the whining, crying and fighting. And trying to be present for your kids while still "managing the household." Laundry ain't gonna do itself! But it's all what I signed up for. I made the choice. Clearly she is making the choice to not have kids and focus on her work. Great for her. That's the thing about choices - we each get to make them for ourselves! So don't go picking fights because someone else picked a life that is different than yours. She just comes off as immature and snooty. I am sure she is soooo well loved in the workplace...
Amy Glass is a moron. Sad excuse for women everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThose nails are hideous.
That Cali Cub shirt is the cutest!
And yup, Marcus is a cutie :)
Aww, I love the cub shirts!
ReplyDeleteThose nails make me cringe. So ugly.
