Currently…

-- September 2014 --

Currently I am…

Thinking about :: what we will be for Halloween. Yes, *we*. Since Marcus has been born I've coordinated our Halloween costumes. And I love it. I didn't think I would ever be that mom, but… I am. I've recognized it, acknowledged it, and rather than fight it I'm accepting and embracing it.
2012 - I've called Marcus "monkey" since the day he was born. This only seemed appropriate for his first Halloween.
2013 - the M & M family (Marcus, the Mackes, get the M&M reference?)
Working on :: finding the motivation and skill to make something to hold and display my running bibs and finisher medals. I'd love to do a combination of a few designs below. Now, if someone could assist me with a few power tools that would be super.

Reading :: The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. If you're looking for a great historical fiction book READ THIS! So, so, so good. Many a nights I've lost precious sleep because I can't put it down.

Listening to :: nothing right this second. However, my last Pandora station was 'Kenny Chesney'.

Eating :: at the moment, nothing. But, I could really go for a heaping bowl of ice cream. More specifically, Trader Joe's Cookie Butter ice cream. Hello deliciousness. Haven't had it? Oh my gosh, go get yourself some, right this minute. You'll be thanking me later (much like I have Elizabeth to thank for the oh-so sweet introduction).

Watching :: Chicago Fire. For obvious reasons…
…The plot. Duh. (Is anyone else completely blown away by the fact that Taylor Kinney [the guy on the left] and Lady Gaga are a couple?!)

Wanting :: to be pregnant. There. I said it. It's out there.

Feeling :: pretty pleased with how potty training is going. I haven't wanted to heave myself off a cliff, so I'd consider the whole process pretty successful thus far.

Loving :: these Pumpkin Cinnamon Streusel muffins (thanks for the inspiration, Stephanie). I'm loving even more that there are only three needed ingredients and I could quickly whip them up during nap time.

Thankful for :: these two fellas. They're pretty awesome, and they make my world go 'round.

Thanks Courtney for the great idea to jot down what's going on currently!

What are you up to currently?

  1. It's going to be tough to top last year's costume - too cute! But I'm sure you'll come up with something creative. Cookie butter ice cream? I'm at TJ's weekly and haven't noticed it! I'll check this week.

  3. Oh my word I love the costumes.

If I came to visit we could make that finisher medal display in a snap! See the reasons are just stacking up :P.

That ice cream looks to die for. How I wish there was a Trader Joes nearby.

Another baby M would be fabulous, and adorable. Maybe to much cuteness to handle :).

  6. I have heard such great things about that book. I still need to read it.

    Love your costumes! So cute!

I watched Chicago Fire for the first time last night, and I really like it!

I always get curious about people and when they'll have kids, though I know it's none of my beeswax, but hang in there. I didn't know if you were in the one and done club like some other bloggers out there or what. Praying for ya!

  7. Eeek! Bump watch begins...;) And I really need to get on halloween costumes too. Not that we do anything matching, but it sure would be nice if the kids actually ever wanted to coordinate anymore. Maybe this year!

  8. Funny about how everyone wonders about others having kids. I'm the same way, I wonder about people. But I don't want to be wondered about, ha! Unfortunately a couple years pass after having a kid and the questions begin. It seems people judge parents who decide to have only one. Sometimes I think I'd love Mace to be an only child, but in the back of my head and heart I know I really want him to have a sibling. Not right this minute for a variety of reasons, but sometime in the next couple of years. People I work with are waiting for me to be pregnant and it's super duper awkward!! I'm ready for you to have two though so you can give me all your tips :))

  9. 1. Your costumes are always genius and adorable at the same time. I think we've finally gotten Emma off of the gorilla idea, but now I have no idea what we're all going to be.
2.The Forest Gump quote race display board is amazing. I need that for Ryan's marathon medals!
    3. Definitely adding the Kitchen House to my reading list. I've been on the hunt for a can't-put-it-down book for a while.
    4. Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga? I can't.

I totally loved your Halloween costumes last year - can't wait to see what you do this time! and so much yay for potty training going well! gotta knock that out before baby 2.0 right?! can't want to watch the bump this time around :) Sometimes I see all these ppl having their 2nd or 3rd baby and I have his moment of wanting to be preganant so I can "do it right" this time but then I remember what that means and I snap back to reality ;) But I'll think happy thoughts for you!

  16. Can't wait to see what your costumes are going to be...

A friend of mine had a great photo of what she wanted to do with her racing bibs and medals. I will have to email it to you. It was cute.

  17. Girl, I liked that ice cream so much that I can't go to Trader Joe's anymore.... ok that's a little extreme, but I have been avoiding it so I don't get tempted to buy more ice cream when I just bought oreos today! Haha.
I've been eyeing that muffin/cupcake ever since Stephanie posted it! It looks delicious and so simple! Also love the graphic you made. How did you do that?!
Excited for you and baby #2! Thinking positive, happy thoughts for you!

  18. Like two seconds in I had a comment. Then by the end I had like 6 and the only one I can think of involves Chicago Fire. Yes, please and thank you! My friend just started the fire academy and my first question was if she met my future husband. Haha. And I need to find that book!

  19. So exited to see what you decide for your costumes! Myles wants to be Spider-Man so I think we are going to do the super hero thing! I'm looking forward to reading your potty training post. We need to get started on that soon but I just haven't fully dived in. I'm not rushing but I'm glad to see it went to well for you guys! He was definitely ready then!
