On to it. Shall we?
1. Julia's birthday party is rapidly approaching. Scott may or may not have asked politely for me not to go over board. While I tried really hard not to, I'm pretty sure I've failed in my attempts. I can't help it. I freaking live for this kind of stuff. Plus, the little lady only turns one once. I know she won't remember any of it, but I sure will. Plus, who says it's wrong to want to have these memories for myself? The first year of life is certainly one to remember (for momma and baby), so why not celebrate big? Here's a peek at a few things that are in the works...
2. I don't want to use this space to complain, but can our house catch a break this summer? It seems as if once one kid recovers from an illness the other one turns around and catches the same bug, or something equally as awful. We've had bouts of the stomach bug, fevers for days, ear infections, relentless teething, and cases of HFM. This is not quite how I envisioned spending our summer days, and I may have thrown myself a pity party because of it all...
3. Coppertone Water Babies Sunscreen is my favorite baby "fragrance." I'm pretty sure I like the smell of it better than actual baby lotion.
4. We have yet to go to the beach this summer. Refer to point number two for reference.
5. I love the days Marcus has summer camp. Being with my babies is the best, but I know most days camp is way more fun than I am.
6. I'm pretty loyal to my make up brand and rarely (never) stray from it. But, the Influenster L'Oréal Voluminous VoxBox was on point this month. I'm especially digging the lash primer and shadow colors.
7. While I love blogging, and reading others blogs, I actually appreciate when bloggers *don't* post every. single. day. If all my favorites blogged every day one of two things would happen: 1) I'd never get anything done besides read blogs 2) I would completely skip reading blogs altogether. Last week I posted four times and I honestly felt guilty about so many posts that I just skipped a Friday 5 Edition. How does anyone come up with that much (good, quality) content to post so often? Some of my favorite bloggers post once or twice a week. I like to think we're pretty busy, and do an assortment of fun things. But, there's just no way I could post every day. Not to mention, I don't have time to post that frequently.
8. Speaking of blogging... Day In The Life posts are my least favorite posts to read, or write for that matter. #sorrynotsorry
Phew. Now that that's all out there I'm feeling a bit better.
Care to share any confessions today?
There are weeks that go in spurts. Sometimes the boys take an awesome nap & I'm on my game & I can crank out a few posts & schedule them & then there are times where I only post 2 or 3 times a week.
ReplyDeleteI love the invitation for Julia's party! I can't wait to see how it all comes together!
We have been sick all summer too!!!! It must be a two kid thing!
ReplyDeleteGo all out for her birthday! I'm so excited to see the results :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry all of y'all have been sick. I think it is worse to be sick in the summer for some reason :( Hope you all get some beach days soon!
I'm so with you about enjoying bloggers that don't post everyday because I really won't be able to keep up at all! Back in the day I use to do it everyday and I still have no idea how I did it.
Lol, I kinda like day in the life posts although I've never done one because I've always thought no one is really interested, hahaha.
Hmm, my confession: I ate an entire bag of starburst jelly beans yesterday.
Lately I have so much to write that I could post twice a day! lol. I'm with you about camp being more fun than me. For sure.
ReplyDeleteSo you're saying I'm your hero for blogging once a month right? I can't WAIT to see Julia's part-ay! I mean- as long as everyone is healthy and that HFM has run its course. So lame.
ReplyDeleteOne week I posted 5 times and I honestly have NO idea how that happened or how I had that much stuff to blog about. And you've noticed it hasn't happened since? LOL. But YES! I fully agree with you. This week I've been super busy every afternoon (my usual blog reading time) so I've skipped so many posts (#sorrynotsorry). I just.dont.have.time. When it comes down to it, the blog writing and reading is always the first thing to go when I'm busy, even though I truly do love it. So I totally agree, its all about quality not quantity.
ReplyDeleteI do have to disagree with the DITL posts though. They are a pain in the butt to write, but I do love to look back on them occasionally and I do love reading other peoples. Mainly because I'm nosy lol.
Girl you totally deserve a break this summer.... I mean really! I actually had that exact thought for you when I saw the HFM on Facebook. Give the girl a break! Hopefully you are just getting it all out of your system and the rest of the year will be smooth sailing.
ReplyDeleteJulia's party is going to be amazing! Love this peek at all the little details! And I actually LOVE day in the life posts. But I'm super nosey... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you on postings. I aim for 2-3x a week and hope that's enough that people will still read :) No way could I keep up with someone who posts every day consistently!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE what you have planned for her party; I can't wait to see everything!
What makeup brand do you typically use? I'm looking to get some new stuff and could use some recommendations :)
Ugh. I hope the sickness is over soon for you! Julia's party is so cute! I'm totally guilty of posting too much. I will definitely be cutting it back once I'm back to school. I've definitely over-booked myself this summer.I'm with ya on the day in the life posts, too. That VoxBox looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteConfession: I love my kids, but hate this part of my life. Clothes fit weird post-partum, the three kids aren't independent and strapping kids into three car seats whenever we have to go someplace sucks. Also, sometimes I pay the neighbor girl to come over and play with the older two so I can get stuff done. There are days where, during nap/quiet time, I do absolutely nothing. Case in point. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like when Day in the Life posts are sparatic and not part of a link-up. It gets really old, really fast reading 15+ Moms share their day ... especially when it's pretty much the same thing. Myself included. BUT I have a DITL post planned for August but it's more like our day in 10 photos.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about camp/daycare. Myles goes a couple times a week and although we miss him, I know he has to get bored of my sad attempts at playing superheroes! I also love the smell of sunscreen. I even push off bath time after we go to the pool or beach so I can keep smelling Myles! And #7!! I know it takes way too long for me to write a post, but I couldn't imagine writing 5 days a week. I have never been able to do that. I try to read as much as possible, but if someone post 5 days I usually only comment on 2 or 3. I would never get to blog myself if not.
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend, you totally need a break! You had be cracking up in this post. I totally get the blogging thing. I LOVED documenting our mempries & making connections but honestly I'm (usually) way too tired and want to veg on the couch in the evenings. Ha! Plus, honestly if you are posting 5 days a week are you really living your life or living through a blog?
ReplyDeleteHFM sucks! I hope she is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI am terrible at blogging now. I am lucky if I read once a week and post once a month. Once school is back in session I will have more time. :)
I cannot post a medium amount. I'm awful at it. I'm either nothing or 5 days lol, but I don't expect you or anyone to read every single one =) Lord knows I can't return the favor. I aim for reading blogs twice a week, and sometimes that is too much. Actually often times it is too much.
ReplyDeleteDiTL are my faves too! It takes me ages to get around to them though because they are so long. phew.
And, honestly, your summer is like back to school winter season! What's with that?! ick after ick. I'd probably have Aria in a bubble by now. Have you checked out any bubbles!??
I started this same post before the fair! Still working on it, who knows when I'll post it. :) I'm sorry for all the sickness at your house this summer, what a bummer! Yay for new makeup to try!!!
ReplyDeleteFor Julia's party- do you invite friends too or just family? We had a massive party with all our friends and family and I'm not sure who to invite for Tate's party. My hubby would prefer to not have a party at all- lol, but obviously that's not happening.
