The need to get things done around the house is hitting me full force. I can't help it. With Marcus' big boy bed coming at the end of the week, and the fact that we haven't even touched on the idea of a nursery, I'm in full-fledged nesting mode.
It will probably be several weeks until any nursery ideas come together, but Marcus' room is another story. A theme, or look, has been chosen, and I'm ready to make this room happen.
Here's some of inspiration we're working with.
The bed:
We only have three bedrooms, and when grandparents visit we want them to have a place to stay without having to book a hotel. The full bed will work for two adults, and the twin trundle will be just right for Marcus. May I also add that I love the additional storage beneath the trundle, as well as under the bed (Marcus has already discovered that the under-bed-storage makes for the perfect little fort). There is no such thing as too much storage.
We have a dresser that was Scott's growing up, so we are going to re-stain that to a color that matches the bed, and I found some hardware that I think will tie in just perfectly.
After a little bit of contemplation the chevron won my heart (shocking). It resembles waves, and I'm just smitten with it.
The decor and accessories:
Navy and white will be the primary colors with pops of reds and yellows throughout.
My mom is making the comforter, and I just know it's going to exceed my expectations.

I love the idea of the nautical theme!! And the bed...AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love!!! So perfect for a boy who lives by the beach. It is going to look GREAT!
ReplyDeleteSO perfect... can't wait to see it when it's done!
ReplyDeleteThat bed looks awesome! And I love the nautical theme! We were thinking along the same line with our blog posts this week :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun theme and perfect for a boy who spends his days with his toes in the sand!
ReplyDeleteThat Captain/Pirate sign - love that!!! Nautical theme is so perfect for a growing boy! Can't wait to see it completed!
ReplyDeleteFun! I love the bed! Can't wait to see it come together!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome!! The hardware is gorgeous and I love the theme!! We have that tricky bedroom situation for guests as well. What we do now is blow up a big aero bed in the third bedroom. And that will still work for a while when Mabel shows up because she'll be in our room....but come the end of this year, I hope they don't mind sleeping in the living room! haha. Sorry grandparents.
ReplyDeleteI love your inspiration! I think it is going to look amazing and Marcus is going to be so excited! I know how much he loves the beach and this is just perfect for him.
ReplyDeleteI love that bed so much! It is perfect. My papa built me a bed when I was a kid and it has storage like that underneath. Super convenient. What a great theme. Can't wait to see it all done!
ReplyDeleteLoooooo the nautical theme!!!!! Seriously, I would go overboard (no pun intended) with a little boy! That bed is just perfect for the situation. We technically have a fourth room but it works way to well as a playroom to let it go. I guess house guests will need to use a blow up in the foyer? Haha
ReplyDeleteI love nautical themes, and it looks like it's going to be a great room for Marcus. I can't wait to see it come together! I especially love that bed - we have a similar situation; 3 bedroom house, and grandparents come to visit. We want them to have a room and bed, and not just an air mattress.
ReplyDeleteWe were THISCLOSE to going with nautical also! Love the theme and can't wait to see it unfold. :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! I love the nautical theme. So cute! We are re-doing Jackson's room too to make it a big boy room. We are going with a Transportation theme. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the nautical theme and that bed is amazing!
ReplyDeleteTrue story there is NEVER enough storage! Great idea to get the full bed and the trundle! We got callie a full but figured if we need the space she could sleep on her air mattress and the adults would get the bed. You guys thought more ahead than we did! :) Love the nautical theme for a little boy -- just perfect!
