Hey There! I'm Back!

After a nearly three week blogging hiatus I figured it was time to get back in the writing saddle. The break was over-due and very much needed. Taking a step back from this little space allowed me to focus exclusively on my family during the holidays. There was no pressure to take photos, to write blog-worthy content, edit a million pictures, or read and reply to comments. It was so incredibly refreshing.

Now, the reset button has been hit, and I'm ready to jump back into it all.

On the flip side, I have to mention that I've genuinely missed connecting with so many of my blogging friends on a daily basis.

Before we get into Fridays Five, I want to wish my amazing mom a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We hope you have the most fabulous day filled with lots of laughter, love, and cake.

On to the high-fives.

1. I'll spare all the details of Christmas, but it was awesome. Marcus had the grandest of times with both sets of grandparents and cousins. And, seeing Marcus begin to 'get it' made the holidays that much more magical for this momma.

2. Many of you have probably seen this floating around the social media networks.
To say we are excited is an extreme understatement.
This afternoon we have our first appointment and I'm simply giddy with excitement. I cannot wait to see our little peanut.

This will also provide me with some content to work with for the next, oh, say, forever. I'll have a more detailed post coming up next week on all the details.

3. In direct relation to the growing addition of our family I've decided to loosen up on my blogging schedule. For the last two years I've posted every Monday-Friday. I'm not so sure I can keep that up anymore. Before the little blogging break this space was beginning to feel more like work than anything. The pressure to get a decent post written and scheduled had just become too great. I don't want that. This blog is not my job, it's my hobby. And, to be honest, I would be ok if I never heard Scott say, "You're married to that computer," ever again…

Don't be surprised if the posts are scaled back to only a couple each week.

4. Here's one from way out in left field:
My latest favorite app and time suck… Trivia Crack.
via
If you like trivia of any sort, this is your game. Look me up (@desireedudding) and we can have a grand old time answering pointless questions together.

5. Returning back to California after a week in the frozen tundra wouldn't be complete without an absolutely breath taking costal sunset.
No filter, my friends. No. Filter.

Now, I'd be totally lying if I said I was going to go back to December 26 and catch up with all the blog posts I missed. So tell me, what did I miss??

Have a great weekend!

  3. Again, congratulations :) So excited for you!! It's so hard to blog regularly (for me) so I totally support any blogging decisions you make :) I cant wait to follow your journey, even if it's on a different social media :)

  4. Yay, so glad to have you back. Even if it is on a scaled down level. I have been contemplating scaling my posts down a bit to. It would be good to not feel like I HAVE to post something, you know?!

  7. I am obsessed with quiz up! A million times better than trivia crack! Sooo many categories and you can be ranked by what place you are in between your friends, state, country, global! Ahhh!

  8. I was going to email/text you today to see what was going on with you! Glad to have you back and I don't blame you for scaling back on posts. It's a huge commitment!

  10. Welcome back! At least you're not like me and end up taking almost a whole year off from blogging! Like you though, I missed the friends I made from blogging so I'm back but scaled down. And congratulations on the big news! That's wonderful!

(P.S.- This is now the fourth time I'm trying to post this comment because the comment box keeps eating them. So, hopefully this one goes through and I don't accidentally spam your comment section with four different comments!)

  11. So funny - I was just getting on here to email you and ask if you're ok!!! :) Glad to see you are. Now, that pic of Scott buried under all those kids -- priceless! I'm sad you won't be posting as often but I totally get it - duh, I don't post as often anymore either! You'd better email me all about your apt this afternoon! Still so excited for you, even if you are feeling terrible most days. :( It's a girl!!! :) I'm terrible at trivia so have stayed away from trivia crack ... so far. But if I do join I'll 'friend' you and let you kick my butt w/ your knowledge. :)

  12. I always used to blog every other day but with 2 kids, I can really only post 2 times (sometimes 3) a week. It's kinda nice to just post when there's something really worthy rather than filling space!

  13. My favorite blogs are those that don't post every day anyway! I feel like blogs/bloggers that post every day get annoying. I'd rather be surprised by sporadic posts that are truly blog-worthy! Congrats on Baby #2!

  14. Yay for updates! I hear ya on cutting back. I've been trying to cut back on blogging a little bit. It can seem like a job, and heck, I'm not making really any money on it besides the fun things to review every once in a while, so it's nice to relax a little! Can't wait to hear more about baby #2!!

  16. Yay! I'm so happy for your little growing family! Love that photo! And the last thing I need (but LOVE SO MUCH) is a trivia app! Thanks...now I'll never get anything done !

  20. YAY so happy to have you back! I was excited to see your post pop up in my feed since you said you'd be back on Monday :) So, so glad you enjoyed your break and your Christmas with your family!
And so, so, so excited for you and baby # 2! I can't wait to watch your family grow!
Oh, and I totally would check out that trivia game but I have sworn off any of those things (just like that dang candy crush game) because I am too afraid of getting addicted to it! LOL.

  21. haha I like the end, yeah I normally feel like I need to keep up with everybody when I take a blog break but I made myself hit 'mark as read' on BL this time. It is a lot of working both writing a blog and interacting with other blogs. it is good to reset, and it is good to scale back when you need to!
I was looking at the shoe announcement and Chris walked up behind me to see what it was. He was like....my god their kids are so far apart, thinking all the shoes were of the kids. ha. He figured it out almost right after he said it though =) Congrats again btw!!

  22. Welcome back and CONGRATS!!! I also took a step back from social media over the holidays and didn't ever end up getting through all of my IG feed, so I must have missed your announcement. I'm so happy for you guys!!
