For the Love of Legos

By about the fifth day of the Kansas rain we were pulling at strings to find entertainment for four boys ages 9, 5, 2, and 20 months. While time with the four is always fun and priceless, it's also non-stop and exhausting. So, after the mention of Lego Land was made I think all adults were on deck; Monopoly and playing trains just wasn't cutting it anymore. For anyone.

None of us had been to Lego Land, so it was an adventure for all. I had no idea what to expect of the place, but what we experienced was pretty spectacular.

Upon entering we were educated as to how Legos were made.
The boys saw the different steps needed to make Legos, and even tried to help in the process.
Shortly upon our arrival we made our way to the first ride. Who knew there were rides?!
An attraction where you shoot the bad guys in order to save the Lego Princess. The ride was very reminiscent of the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disney.
Moving along we made our way to a room dedicated to Star Wars. While I found the room impressive it didn't really *do* it for me. Admittedly, I'm not a Star Wars fan, so I admired and moved along. The next exhibit, however, was impressive.

Kansas City - entirely made up of Legos!
Top: Downtown Kansas City
Bottom: Starlight Theater, Western Auto Building
Top to bottom, left to right:
Arrowhead Stadium, Sporting Stadium, Kauffman Stadium, Kansas Speedway
And scenes from The Wizard of Oz (because Dorothy was from Kansas, get it?)!
For the boy it was obvious which part of Lego Land they enjoyed the most.

Building and racing cars. Naturally.
I'm pretty certain all the guys (Grandpa included) could have spent an entire day assembling cars and sending them down the track.
Pretty sure Marcus was expecting this one to start up and take off. He was only a little disappointed when he discovered it was stationary.
Clark! Little man was about as tall as some of the Lego people. And, he loved the karaoke room - boy loves to shake his tail feather.
Four happy campers! Looks like we'll be making more visits to Lego Land.

  1. I think we are going to try to get to a city w/ Lego Land this summer -- both of my boys are Lego fans so it'll be right up their alley! Thanks for the tour!

  4. Those Lego statues are AMAZING! We have a Legoland here but we've never been yet...I so want to! There's a Lego store in downtown Disney though (and at the mall) and they always have the most amazing sculptures outside!

  7. I am so jealous! I want to go to Lego Land sooo bad. I was a lego freak as a kid and I still love them. I can't wait until Myles gets into them so I can put them all together. Have you been to the one by you? I think that's more of an amusement park though, right? Anyway I need to go!!! How fun and great pictures!
