Women's Health Week - Break a Sweat

Welcome to National Women's Health Week!!
When I saw Monday was dedicated to a favorite exercise I immediately thought of running. It's probably my favorite way to get my sweat on. But, my husband says there is a different between running and working out. I don't know about you, but I'm confused. Whatev.

So, I guess if I can't just type "running" and be done with the post then so be it. Though weights aren't my favorite, nor my strong suit, here is a favorite workout of mine....

AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible or As Many Reps As Possible)
Perhaps the beauty of AMRAPs is that you can tailor the workout any way you want, you can (most likely) do your workout at home, and in 20 minutes (that's it!) you're a sweating fool.

Here's an example of an AMRAP the hubs recently wrote up for me; I was gloriously sore for two days after:
Do as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes:
Run 200 meters
12 burpees
10 kettle bell swings (20#)

In that 20 minutes I knocked out seven rounds. Doesn't sound like much? Holy Moses, I was sweating buckets and I was totally spent.

Other options to include in an AMRAP workout: sit ups (the variety of sit up is almost limitless), push ups, pull ups, bicep curls, tricep extensions, box jumps, squats (weighted or without weights), lunges (weighted or without weights), the possibilities are endless, and you can add or subtract as many lifts as you want, and running doesn't have to be included in the workouts. Love, love, love the versatility of this workout.
*I would like to credit Crossfit for the AMRAP concept. For more Crossfit information and daily workouts please head >>HERE<<.

  3. My husband loves doing these type of workouts! He's always telling me I could get more sweat for my time if I were to do something like that... Maybe I will try ;-)
