Thirsty Thursday - Summer Brew

Yep, second post for the day. I don't normally go about posting so much, but I seriously could not pass up this link party. No way, no how.

I'm always in search for good drink ideas and when I saw Alicia over at Brew Mama was hosting this party I had to get in on the action!
Hopelessly Ever After
These days Scott and I aren't big drinkers (back in the day... that might be a slightly different story). Sure, in the evenings we may have a glass of vino to accompany dinner, or occasionally a beer, but nothing too crazy. However, there are times when a good cold refreshing mixed drink is in order.

I've made Summer Brew for a few years now, and I always bring it to gatherings if we are asked to provide a beverage. Every time I share this I'm asked for the recipe. This stuff is delish and can be made a few different ways.

Here are my two favorite mixes:
Summer Brew 1
1 can frozen limeade
3 beers (preferably lagers)
vodka (optional)

In a pitcher add limeade and beers. Fill empty limeade can with vodka and add to the mix. Combine well (my pitcher has a nifty handle that moves up and down to stir all the lovely ingredients).
Viola! The perfect summery beverage.

Summer Brew 2
1 can frozen limeade
3 beers (preferably lagers)
tequila (optional)
In pitcher add limeade and beers. Fill empty limeade can with tequila and add to the mix. Combine well.
Summer Brew 2 has a more margarita-ish taste, and a nice rim of salt would be a great garnishing touch.

Either way, Summer Brew hits the spot on those hot days when you're lounging at the pool, or hanging out at the beach!
Enjoy!

  12. Ok, I'm not typically a beer drinker unless we're at a party grilling out or something but the vodka brew looks like a great idea (I can't stomach tequila). Maybe because I love limeade...:) Thanks for sharing!
