The Picture Perfect Project {{6}} Manual Mode

Month six of PPP! We're half way through this challenge. HOW?!!

And, after all this time I FINALLY bit the bullet and decided to give manual mode a shot (no pun intended).

Full disclosure. I had no idea what I was doing when I shot any of these photos. I just kept adjusting settings until I liked what I saw.

Without further adeu, my first attempts at shooting in manual.

I still have SO MUCH to learn when it comes to shooting in manual. When I find some time (ha. ha. ha.) I'm going to have to do a little lot more research on all the settings and functions of my camera. But, the mere fact that I even switched to manual is kind of a big deal for me. And for now, I'll just keep shooting and adjusting and hoping I catch a few good photos in the process.

How was this month of PPP for you? Be sure to link up and show your photos from this month!

  1. I think you did great for your first time in manual. I still haven't given it a try. I'm scared. ha ha

  2. I'm so proud of you for giving manual a try. I, by NO means, am an expert in shooting in manual, as I just started a couple of months ago. My only advice is to practice, practice, practice. I'm finally getting a little more confident & aware of what settings my camera needs to be at in certain lights. I can definitely tell a difference when editing my photos. I actually, for the first time, took Wyatt's monthly pictures in manual & I'm so pleased with how they turned out! Keep up the practicing!

I LOVE the picture of Marcus!

  3. First great try! I think once you get the hang of it you won't turn back. I feel like my pictures are so much better in manual mode. Keep practicing, you've already got it!

  8. Yay! That's exactly the way I learned too. Trial and error...adjust on the fly...learn from mistakes. Kudos to you for taking the plunge!

  9. Gah! Julia is so crisp in the forefront with all the details in the background present, but not overpowering. And that beach shot is exquisite!

  10. I hope to tackle manual at some point. Oh how I would love like 2 days by myself to focus on learning my camera. What mode did you use previously?

  11. I think they turned out pretty good! Yay for experimenting. I need to do that when we're not somewhere where I actually want good pictures, or pictures that aren't blurry...I should do it at the park or something like that. Good luck!

  12. I think you did such a good job!!! I mean, I don't have a camera, but I KNOW I would be too scared to take a picture in manual, especially of Mason! He moves way too quickly for me to shoot in manual, but that picture of Marcus is so good!

  13. This is me a million times over. 3 years of my camera and I still do manual most of the time. I have no idea what I'm doing and I don't learn from reading. I need a class! The colors turned out beautiful in your pictures through!
