I discovered too late that today's TBT has a wedding theme. Whoops. I'll get around to gushing about our wedding another day.
Being home has brought more than a built-in baby-sitter (thanks, Mom!). I've had plenty of time to reflect on how great this little Iowa town really is.
Growing up I was in such a rush to leave. Often, the words, "I can't wait to get out of here," would fly from my lips. It's funny, because now I look forward to coming home.
Leaving at the end of the month is going to be difficult. More difficult than I ever imagined.
If only I could go back to my teenage self and tell her to slow things down, enjoy the ride a little more, that this town, this state, really does have a lot to offer.
Amy, over at The Story of Us, is hosting this fun linkup. Head over to say hi, and check out other fun TBT pics!

so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteBasically I could just put my face on your body in allll of these pics because I have the same. exact. ones. Like awesome prom pics and a killer USA shirt. Your USA shirt actually looks really stylish compared to the one I had. And is that Hard Rock mixed in?? I had a great Hard Rock tank I liked to lifeguard in. So there's that too. Love these!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I just love looking at old photos and reminiscing.
ReplyDeleteI was the same way when I was younger, always wanted to get out of my town. And then I couldn't wait to move back, and finally did over a year ago!
ReplyDeleteI 100% agree. Not necessarily want to go back to my hometown (which is only 20 minutes from where I currently live), but agree with the slowing down. I long for the days of being able to do whatever I want and not having a care in the world!
ReplyDeleteI could have written this post word for word. I was the exact same way growing up. I couldn't wait to get out of my small town. I especially couldn't wait to get out of high school. Now, while I still certainly feel the same way about high school, I miss my small town. There really is something to be said for that kind of life.
ReplyDeletei could totally tell these pictures are you! throwbacks are so fun. you will have to go back to iowa again so i can make a trip to you!
ReplyDeleteIt is so much fun looking back at old photos. I would have definitely enjoyed high school more. Talked to more of my classmates and worried less about my clothes/appearance.
ReplyDeleteHA! love these old pictures
ReplyDeletei think we all often wish for the next stage of life and always think the next thing will be better and forget to enjoy where we are now!! fun looking at old pictures!
