The Grandma Visits Edition

It's been a week! For 10 days the kids and I were without Scott thanks to some out of town work obligations he had. To say we were excited to have him back home would be a gross understatement. However, we were so fortunate that most of those days were not spent without extra help. My mom flew in from Iowa for a hefty portion of the time Scott was away.

That leads me to our highlights from the past week.

1. GRANDMA!
We are so, so lucky to have our families come and visit us as often as they do. Living 1600 miles from family isn't easy, but the sure do everything they can to help us out when it's possible.

While Grandma was here...

2. PJ Day at School!
I remember these kinds of dress up days at school as a kid, and I loved them. I'm also pretty sure the jammies Marcus was sporting came from Grandma, so it seemed appropriate he wore them on PJ day.

3. DISNEY!
We made a Disney trip with Grandma in tow (and I'm kicking myself for not taking any photos of her with the kids there!). And my goodness, what a change from the last few times we'd been. Prior, Marcus had exactly zero interest in the park. This time? LOVED IT!! We went on more rides this past trip than the three trips before it - combined! My mom was a saint and rode rides with Marcus while I hung out with Julia, and then we would switch and she kept Julia entertained while I rode rides with the little man. Our main objective was to see the 60th Anniversary fireworks. But, OF COURSE it was too windy for those to happen, so we didn't see a single firework. Guess we'll just have to go back again soon!

4. Savoring the moments.
Because of the extra help of Grandma I was able to savor little moments with my kids that might have otherwise gone by the wayside in the hustle of simply trying to survive 10 days without Scott. One of those moments was holding Julia after she nursed. One minute she was giggling and cooing, the next she was dozing in my arms. These moments are fleeting, and I'm thankful I didn't miss such a soft and tender moment with my littlest.

5. THE WEEKEND!
It's finally here! Have a good one!

  1. Yay for grandma!!! Sounds like you had a ton of fun while she was visiting. I always love when my parents come to visit. It's so tough living hours and hours away from them. Glad Scott is home and it's the weekend! Have a great one!

  7. It's the BEST when grandparents come to visit! Mia can't get enough of having visitors! SUCH a bummer about the fireworks! We were worried that it would be too windy when we were there as well, but it worked out! You should probably try to go again in march... a little birdie told me we *might* be going back ;)

  9. YAY for Grandma!!! SO glad she was able to come visit and you guys had the best time. AND Marcus loved Disneyland again!!! (of course, right when your passes are about to expire, right?) You know what that means? Means that we need to convince Seth to let me get passes and Scott to renew yours! And then we can go together!

  11. Is it windy there all the time? Just noticed on Flip or Flop how windy it was, just wondering... :)

So, what is it Scott does and where does he work? I don't think I've ever asked in all these years (yes years!) of knowing you. :)

  14. I;m so glad you had help for those days. I could not survive with 2 kids on my own for 3 days, much less 10! And oh those nursing snuggles. Totally the best! I took a nap with Charlotte yesterday while she was nursing and it was glorious.

  16. Yay for having Grandma in town! Moments with the grands are so special. And we totally miss pajama day at school! Mason's Pre-K had pajama day like every Thursday. And now here we are in public school with uniforms. Are fun days now consist of blue jeans (for $1 going to a cause) every once in a while. And I'm jealous of your Disney trip!
