Get Out Your Running Shoes

Remember awhile back when I hinted to some fun that Jenny and I were working on for the summer? It's time we finally make our announcement, we're excited, and hope you are too!

To spark a little interest in the running world we are hosting a FREE virtual 5K race/walk! This is a great opportunity for seasoned runners to get out and run a 5k, or those looking to catch the running bug - because, did I mention it's free?

Since we're all scattered across the county we thought it would be fun to host a "virtual" 5K. Which means if you're interested in participating you run/walk your own 5K and then report back the results!

The Chronicles of We

Here's how it all works:

Race day
On Saturday, September 13 go out and run your own 5K. This can be anywhere - on a treadmill, outside, on a track, alone, pushing a jogging stroller, or with a running buddy - just get out and run your 5K! Be sure to time it too (and don't forget to snap a pic of your results)!

Race Training
The race date may seem far away but it's really just eight weeks away! This is intentional to allow for training time. Most of the beginning 5K training programs, and even some of the advanced ones, are about that long. Whether you're a novice training for your first race or a seasoned runner training for a PR it was important to us that we incorporated training into this race. To help with training Jenny and Desirée will each post our training plans the week of July 21 on our blogs. We will also host a mid-way training check-in link up on our blogs on August 13 for anyone who wants to share how their training is coming along!

In addition to our blogs we will also be sharing our training progress on Instagram! You can share your training too by using the #DJV5K.

Race Results
On Monday, September 15 we will host a final link up on our blogs to share your race results! If you don't have a blog you can share your results on Instagram, again using the #DJV5K. 

Race Sign up
So now you know all the fun things involved with this virtual 5K, we hope you want to join us! Remember, it's FREE, all you need to do to sign up is simply e-mail Jenny or me with your name, e-mail, blog address (if you have one) and Instagram name. Sign up closes Wednesday, July 16 at 11:50pm eastern.

Spread the Word
If you know of someone who would like to join, but may not be a blog follower, please, send them our way. We want to get as many people involved as possible. The more the merrier!

  1. Sept 13th is like a week after I will be allowed to start running again so my time will be RIDICULOUSLY slow. Either way, I'll still link up with this fun!

  2. Yay! I'm excited about this! It will be a good reason for me to actual start running again (you know, since I'm supposed to be running a half in November...).

  3. Fun idea! I'll most likely sign up!. Right now I'm doing PiYo which is minimal cardio (but some) and a lot of pilates, toning, balancing. I want to start running once a week, even if it's a couple miles.

  4. So excited this is happening! Now to get training! :)

  5. I am very excited! I may talk to my friend who would like to do a 5K. I just sent her a training plan. Maybe this will be the motivation she needs to get started.

  6. Such a fun idea, ladies! My friend and I plan to start walking, so we may walk a 5K. :)

  7. I just bought new sneakers the other day and they arrived today. Maybe it's a sign.

  8. What a fun idea! I'm not such a fan of running... but I may walk a 5K with you!

  9. I hate running, but when Jenny emailed me I couldn't resist! Hubs thinks I'm a nut. Great idea though!
