Julia || 21 Months

I swear I write one of these things out, snap a million pictures of Julia in hopes for a handful of keepers, and then I turn around and have to do it all over again. The saying that time is a thief is no lie.
Let's get down to the deets on Julia this past month.
Stats
Height: I'm guessing 33.5 inches
Weight: 24.5 pounds
She's pretty comfy in 2T clothes, though there are several 18-24 month pieces that fit well.
All of her teeth are in, save for the 2-year molars (I'm already dreading those).
Loves
Marcus, depending on the situation (or if he has something she wants).
Being barefoot.
Being outside.
The park.
Running around naked.
Being chased.
Playing peek-a-boo.
Bubbles.
Music.
Dancing.
Singing.
Puppies, cats, cows.
Bubble Guppies.
Fruit.
Spaghetti.
Cheese.
Water.
Sweets, particularly chocolate and frosting.
Attending Gymboree.
Swimming, playing with her water table, bath time.
Going for rides in the  jogging stroller.
Playing at Marcus' preschool.
Dislikes
Marcus, depending on the situation.
Being told, "no."
Sitting still.
Most veggies (with exception to the very tops of asparagus).
Most meat.
Potatoes - how is she my child?! Fries are the exception.
Trucks, specifically garbage trucks and semis.
Vocabulary
I can't believe I forgot to mention this *last* month, but Julia has started saying "I love you." It sounds a lot like, "I wuv weeeeee," but it's getting more decipherable. It's positively the best thing to hear. Julia has mastered most of the animal sounds, now. We've been working on counting, and she skips "one," and goes right to "twooooooo." Every color is blue or black, though she knows how to say most of the other primary and secondary colors. She's pretty much a parrot. If I ask her to say something most of the time she will give a valiant effort. Marcus' name is pretty tricky for her, but we're working on it. She's also getting pretty proficient at simple two word sentences. And, she engages in conversations, even if we don't quite catch everything she's trying to say. All that said, most of the time just Scott, Marcus and I can understand her, but she's getting there.
Notable Moments
We traveled to Kansas City this past weekend, and I have to say, Julia did surprisingly well on the three hour flights. The last 40 minutes were kind of tricky, as she was totally over being confined to my lap/the floor by my feet, but she surpassed all my expectation.
Just recently - say, the past three weeks - Julia has taken a serious liking to a particular blanket. She insists on napping and sleeping with it, always.
Within the last month or so, when we walk Marcus to his preschool entrance, we always walk with a friend of mine and her daughter. Almost every morning Julia will let go of my hand and demand my friend hold her hand as we make our way to the doors. It takes a while, but once Julia gets to know someone well she is so sweet.
Julia's hair is getting so long, and her curls are just the best. I've given up hope on bows and clips (for now), and I've tried countless times to put in a pony tail, with no success. My neighbor watched the kids one morning for a bit while I went for a run. When I came back and picked the kids up Julia's hair was in the cutest little pony tail. Julia had no problem letting my neighbor put her hair up, but I still can't get close to her with a hair tie.
I think that pretty much covers the last month with the little lady. There's an abundance of sass and sweet and love, and though some days are pretty exhausting, I can't say I'd trade any of it.
Cheers to 21 months, and onward to month 22!

  3. Oh Mama! She looks so grown all of a sudden. I adore that jacket. Those pictures of her smelling and then tasting the flower are the best. Her holding your friend’s hand – be still my heart! So sweet.

  4. 21 months?! The curls are adorable! Of course, she let the neighbor put her hair in a ponytail! We use to scream bloody murder when our mom did our hair but kept still and quiet when someone else did it, haha. These pictures are so great too, Desiree!

  6. Gah! That coat! Finn has been "teething" for about 6 months now. No 2 year molars in sight. Ugh! Hoping Julia handles them like a boss!

  7. Asparagus tips is the only part Beian eats, like he is adamant nothing else is edible lol. Her hair is the best. I can't do Brielana's either but grandma can(?) Why the preference is beyond me, toddlers.

  8. She is seriously the cutest! I'm dying over that jacket!
And I agree, I don't know her THAT well, but I can see her sweet sassy side, but once she gets to know you and warms up a little, she wants to be with you all the time. I still remember at Disneyland when she let me hold her and play with her without giving me side eye and it was the best! :)

  9. What a cutie!! We just started getting our two year morals, but I can honestly say that it hasn't been nearly as bad as I had anticipated. This is such a cute way to journal the little lady!!

  10. Connor hates all potatoes. He will eat a few fries from time to time but isn't a huge fan. I often wonder where he came from.

And Julia, I continue to love you sass and whit with each passing month.
