The Random Bits of Life Edition

When you're deep in the trenches of day to day life, surviving on little sleep and copious amounts of coffee, the weekend seems nothing short of a dream. But somehow the week passes, and before you know it, the weekend arrives. It's funny how life works like that.

This week was pretty low key and relatively uneventful, but it was good, nonetheless, and left us with plenty to be thankful for:

1. Marcus and I had a very much needed Marcus/Mommy date. It wasn't anything too crazy, but a couple of rounds of bowling and a stop at one of our favorite bakeries was just what the both of us needed.
We're still working on adjusting to life as a family of four, and this time together was so good for both of us.

2. Slowly, surely, and steadily I'm getting back into the swing of working out.
I can't even explain how wonderful it feels to get in some good sweat sessions.

3. It's been hot as blazes here. Good thing for the beach and the pool.
As much as I love summer, and all that it brings, I am so ready for a different season.

4. A couple of days ago I mentioned I had some fun in store for our family. Well, for Scott's birthday I surprised him with a flight back home as well as tickets to catch our teams when they play each other.
We. Are. So. Excited!!! Give us all the football, all the fall weather, and of course a Pumpkin Spice Latte to top it all off.

5. Our "Fall" schedule (seriously, we don't have that season) is starting to fill up. That meant I needed to round up some ideas/events/activities for a Fall Bucket List.
Isn't this just the best season ever?

Have a great weekend!

  1. I love that you took Marcus out on a mommy/son date. Those dates are super important, especially with a newborn around. We still try to make a point to do one on one stuff with just Emma from time to time. She definitely has her moments when she misses being just an only child...but she wouldn't give up Alyx for anything! They have a crazy bond. And what a FUN birthday present for you hubby!!! I also love your fall bucket list. I'm totally jealous of the Mickeys Halloween Party!!!!!
    Have a great weekend!!!!

  2. I bet a Marcus/Mommy date was just perfect. I remember doing that after Wes was born for Henry and it was wonderful. Yay for a trip back this way! That is so great that your teams are playing each other!

  3. I want to have a Connor/Mommy date sometime. I plan to wait until he gets that it's just he and I and it's a special occasion and not like every other day when we are each others sidekicks.

  4. Best Season Ever is upon us! Wish the weather would cooperate. Sign me up for one of those Mickey cookies!!! Have a wonderful weekend Desiree!

  5. LOL!!! "fall" oh how true that is!
SO glad you guys got to go on a Connor and Mommy date! Marcus looks so happy and I bet you were so excited too!
That picture of Marcus at the beach is SO cute! I mean all his pictures are cute but there's something about that picture that I love even more :)
Love your bucket list!! And love that we get to cross one of the items off with you! Ps did you know you have go to a football game and attend a football game on your list? Just wondering :)
Oh and HOW AWESOME are you that you bought Scott tickets to that football game?!?! Best wife ever. I can't wait to see what he gets you for your birthday. He's got a lot to live up to! Also, how did you pull that off without him knowing and checking his work schedule?! I'm impressed!

  6. I love that you and Marcus went on a date together - I'm nervous about how I'm going to split my time between 2 kids in the near future. What a cool birthday gift for your hubby! I saw your post on FB too about letting him sleep- what a great present :) Love your fall bucket list and can't wait to see everything you guys do!

  7. So sweet that you two got a date together! I know that meant the world to him. And look at you...girlfriend...didn't you just have a baby? Lookin' good!! And such a fun Fall list!

  8. Nov 21st, my due date!!! And while your in KS just pop on up to SE Iowa and you can meet the baby! :) What an awesome gift, Andy would be super duper in love with me if I did s/t that awesome for him for his bday! Someday... :) Yes to your bucket list, looks fallish and awesome! The heat came back here, 80's. Not that hot but I'm so over it - had to turn the AC back on, I couldn't handle it. Baby is a little heatilator! :)

  9. It is the BEST! Love that you had some Marcus Mommy time, so special when your a mom of 2!
